The $1 Tier

This tier often doesn’t have any reward other than the creator saying, “Thanks to everyone in this tier,” but it still continues to be an item on almost every project. The $1 tier won’t make or break your campaign; however, it does sign backers up for email updates on the project, which can be bad or good, depending on the mood of the backer.

A $1 backer is essentially a more valuable email list signup, since the user is actually putting money down on their interest in listening to your message instead of just sending you their email address.
